Bothell Cougars (Bothell, WA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the host Garfield Bulldogs (Seattle, WA), 3-0 in a league test.

With the win, Bothell upgrades its record to 7-2 on the season. The Cougars host Eastlake (Sammamish, WA) to battle the Wolves in a 4A KingCo test on Thursday, April 7. The Wolves come into the test with a record of 3-4.

Bothell senior Kevin Mc Shane out-dueled Garfield junior John Trupin, 3-0 in a marquee pitching match-up, giving the Cougars a 5-0 KingC0 4A record to start league play. Mc Shane went 6 IP, 3H, OER, 8K and 2BB, while Trupin pitched his 2nd CG (7 IP)of the young season, giving up 0ER, 2H, 11K and 2BB's. Bothell junior Mark Woods figured in all of the Cougar's runs. In the 3rd inning he reached base after he struck out and scored on an infield out by Mc Shane. In the 4th inning after the first two Bothell batters reached on an error and a walk, he hit a 2-out, 2RBI 1B to make it a 3-0 game. Garfield mounted threats in the 6th abnd 7th innings by getting two batters on each time, but in the 6th, Mc Shane struck out 2 batters in a row and in the 7th, senior Eric Gregory relieved Mc Shane after he walked the first two hitters and got the save with a strike out and a double play ball. Garfield's league record dropped to 1-4 with the loss.
