Beau Beech

Beau Beech has been named player of the year. "The 6'6 senior led not only his team in scoring, (24.4 avg.) but the entire Jacksonville area as he tallied 707 points while leading the Ponte Vedra Sharks to their first ever district championship and a berth in the state playoffs. Beech also pulled down an average of 10 rebounds per game and blocked 68 of his opponent's shot attempts. Beech will be playing his college ball next year at the University of North Florida where he will probably be used as a two guard. Beech has outstanding leaping ability and had as many as 6 dunks in one ball game. A full court pressure defense caused little concern for the Sharks as Beau with his excellent ball handling skills was often able to help Shark point guard Jackson Johnson break an opponent's press. Beech was effective inside or out as he made 94 of his three point attempts during the season. Not content with merely spotting up for three pointers Beech went to the free throw line 209 times, making 167 of his attempts for an excellent rate of 80 per cent. Beech concluded his career with 1517 career points as a four year starter at Ponte Vedra."
