The big showdown in Texas between Allen and DeSoto resulted in a switch for the top spot in the Southwest in the most recent MaxPreps Regional Football Computer Rankings.
Allen's victory resulted in it swapping spots with previous No.1 DeSoto, which dropped to No. 2. Aledo, which advanced to the Class 4A state finals, was the only new entry to the Southwest rankings at No. 9.
In the South, Washington moved back to the top spot despite not playing a game. Central's win in the Class 6A state finals was enough to boost it to No. 2 and Washington, which had defeated Central early in the season, back to the No. 1 spot. Northwestern, which ascended to No. 1 last week, fell to No. 3.
De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) was the biggest mover in the West as it moved up to the No. 2 spot, from No. 7, after advancing to the CIF Open Division final.
The regional rankings are based on the
MaxPreps computer rankings. Record and ranking are included for each team.
