Scouting report: With all the great programs and players in Georgia, Miller Grove's rise to prominence tends to get overlooked a bit nationally. Entering its sixth year of existence, the school and basketball program is looking to three-peat at the Class AAAA level following state championships in 2009 and 2010.
Leading a cast of four returning starters and nine lettermen will be first team All-State selection Brooks (10.3 points, 6.2 rebounds per game) and Parker (10.8 points, 9.3 rebounds), who already has extensive experience representing the United State in international play.
Brooks has been a bit overlooked in recruiting circles, but according to his coach, one lucky college program is going to land a gem.
"Not only is he long, active and athletic, but he is going to probably be the salutatorian of his class," White said. "He has offers from schools like Harvard, Princeton and Penn, along with a lot of mid-majors and other schools interested."
Morris is another key piece for the Wolverines. He shined while stepping in for an injured Parker during last season's postseason run and combined with a solid summer on the travel circuit, the 6-8 junior has attracted offers from the likes of Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Memphis and Ohio State.
"We are fortunate to have a really deep team with a lot of interchangeable parts," White said.
Like most of the nation's elite high school programs, Miller Grove is tackling a grueling schedule with games against in-state powers Columbia, Milton and Rockdale County, as well as trips to the Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina and Flyin' to the Hoop in Dayton, Ohio.
"We want to play the best competition," White said. "We feel like our players are as good as any when you talk about the top teams in Georgia. We want to be mentioned with the best of them."
