Video: DJ Uiagalelei throw for 5 TD's in win over Mater DeiHighlights of St. John Bosco's win over the Monarchs. DJ Uiagalelei
showed why he's the top-rated quarterback from the Class of 2020 and why
most people consider him the best gunslinger in the country regardless
of class. In the biggest game of the year, he led No. 1
St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) to a 41-18 win over No. 2 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.).
The
5-star prospect threw for nearly 300 yards and five touchdowns against
one of the top secondaries in high school football on the national
stage.
Uiagalelei becomes the first player from the Class of
2020 to be named the MaxPreps Polynesian Bowl All-Star Player of the
Week and joins past winners —
Grant Gunnell,
Brian Williams and
Jameson Williams.
So
far this year he has thrown for 1,840 yards and has 28 touchdowns with
only two interceptions and has also rushed for over 200 yards and two
more scores. He is right in the mix to be named the 2018 MaxPreps
National Football Player of the Year.
Honorable mentions
DeMarcco Hellams — DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.)The
2019 Alabama commit made big-time plays on both sides of the ball for
the DMV power in their three overtime win over WCAC rival Gonzaga
(Washington, D.C.). He made the play of the game in the final overtime
intercepting
Caleb Williams to set up the game winning touchdown.
Trey Palmer — Kentwood (Kentwood, La.)The
2019 LSU commit was a major factor on all three phases of Kentwood's
33-0 win over East Iberville (Gabriel). Palmer hauled in three
receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown, had a team high 10 tackles, and also took a punt back to the house from 65 yards.
Jordan Botelho — St. Louis (Honolulu)The
top rated player from Hawaii in the Class of 2020 has been putting on a
show all season. The 4-star linebacker has been a major factor for the
No. 10 ranked team in our
Xcellent 25 rankings presented by the Army National Guard. He had a team-high nine tackles and a sack in their 42-7 over Kamehameha Kapalama (Honolulu).
Sua'ava Poti — St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.)It
wouldn't be fair to not pick someone on St. John Bosco's defense
because they were just as good as the offense, if not better, against
Mater Dei. They held the Monarchs to their lowest point total since
2014. The 2019 Oregon commit was in the backfield pressuring
Bryce Young all night and finished the night with a couple of big-time sacks.
