Vilonia Eagles (Vilonia, AR) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the host Guy-Perkins Thunderbirds (Guy, AR), 58-52 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Vilonia upgrades its record to 5-8 on the season. The Eagles host Harrison (Harrison, AR) to play the Goblins in a 5A West bout on Friday, January 4. The Goblins go into the bout with a record of 11-4. Harrison lost 59-51 in their recent non-league bout against Coweta (Coweta, OK)

Next up, the Thunderbirds play the Sacred Heart Rebels (Morrilton, AR) in a 1A Region 5 bout, on Friday, January 4. Guy-Perkins will attempt to upgrade on its 4-9 season record. The Rebels go into the bout with a 17-6 record after their 48-39 non-league loss to West Fork (West Fork, AR).
