The Camelback Spartans soccer team (Phoenix, AZ), 3-1 in Friday's league outing with the visiting Alhambra Lions (Phoenix, AZ)

With the win, Alhambra advances its record to 11-4 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Chavez (Laveen, AZ) to play the Champions in a non-league outing on Tuesday, January 24. The Champions go into the outing with a record of 0-2.

In their next game, the Spartans play the Central Bobcats (Phoenix, AZ) in a I Section I outing, on Thursday, January 26. Camelback will attempt to advance on its 1-3 season record. The Bobcats go into the contest with a 10-10 record after their 7-2 league loss to Hayden (Phoenix, AZ).

The Lions started strong and defended well in winning on the Spartan's field. A solid offensive attack led to two first-half goals, and an early second-hlaf goal gave the Lions a solid 3-0 lead, and they coasted to the finish, giving up a late goal and winning 3-1. The Spartans had their chances to score late in the second half, but excellent goaltending made it tough on the Spartans. They did make an excellent run and finish on a very nice goal with about 3 minutes left in the game, but it was too little and too late.
