Player of the Year
Nick Martini has been named player of the year. "Nick Martini is The Vasquez Mustangs Player of the Year. He lead the Desert Mountain League in scoring for the second straight year in a row. Nick scored an amazing 561 points in 22 games this year. He averaged 25.5 points per game. Every game he scored at a high volume rate. He played great defense and rebounded great for our team. Nick was our point guard. He played every position at times for our team. Every game he dished out assists and made his teammates better constantly. He had many steals each game. Nick scored a career high of 44 points in an away game at Boron. The night before his career high he scored 32 points against Desert Christian. His performances that week earned him Antelope Valley Press's Male Athlete of the Week. Nick is a great teammate to everyone. He worked hard in the classroom and worked very hard in practice also. He was always encouraging his teammates each and every day. Nick had a legendary career for The Vasquez Mustangs."
