Sylmar Spartans (Sylmar, CA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the visiting Arleta Mustangs (Arleta, CA), 13-3 in a non-league test.

With the win, Sylmar upgrades its record to 4-7 on the season. The Spartans travel to Panorama (Panorama City, CA) to play the Pythons in a Valley Mission battle on Monday, March 19. The Pythons enter the battle with a record of 0-4. Panorama lost 7-3 in their recent non-league battle against St. Genevieve (Panorama City, CA)

The Mustangs now sport a 0-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Grant for a East Valley battle on Wednesday, March 21. Arleta will play a Lancers squad coming off a 5-4 league loss to Verdugo Hills (Tujunga, CA). The Lancers record now stands at 4-6.

Sylmar won a thriller over Arleta 13-3 in a game that was much closer than the score indicated as Sylmar rallied for 7 in the final inning on 3 controversial hit batsmen. Arleta again struggled defensively and allowed numerous unearned runs. Sylmar had some key hits and pulled away to a convincing win. Coach Rivera has rattled off some impressive wins this year as Sylmar is much improved. Arleta is a young team with new very experienced (3X city champions) coaches in former Franklin lead men Perez and Campbell and are working to get their Mustang team on track.
