Spectators at Friday's league battle between the Jordan Panthers (Long Beach, CA) and the visiting Compton Tarbabes (Compton, CA), saw Jordan's baseball squad knock off Compton by a count of 3-0.

Coming up next, the Panthers play the Cabrillo Jaguars (Long Beach, CA) in a Moore battle, on Tuesday, May 13. Jordan will attempt to move on its 10-8 season record. The Jaguars enter the battle with a 2-19 record after their 5-3 league loss to Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, CA).

The Tarbabes now possess a 1-15 record. They take the field next when they travel to Millikan for a Moore battle on Tuesday, May 13. Compton will play a Rams squad coming off a 7-0 non-league win over Laguna Hills (Laguna Hills, CA). The Rams record now stands at 16-10.

The Compton Tarbabes lost a very highly contested game in which the 'Babes' head coach, John Thompson, said it was the best game his team has played all year, even in defeat. In a very good pitching duel between Jordan's Dominic Marquez and Compton's Jose Franquez, the game was nip and tuck to the end. Marquez went the distance for the win by striking out two, walking one batter, and allowing only one hit that came with two out in the top half of the 7th inning to none other than his pitching counterpart, Jose Franquez, who was thrown out at second base trying to stretch it into a double. The masterful pitching of Franquez kept Compton in the game by going 6 innings, allowing 6 scattered hits, 3 runs (1 earned) with one walk, and striking out 6 batters. The 'Babes' allowed only one error which had been their Achilles heel all season and came up with several good defense plays in the game. Next up for Compton is a road game Tuesday against the powerful Millikan Rams.
