The Poly Panthers baseball team scored 11 runs and limited the host South Pasadena Tigers to 1 in the Panthers non-league victory on Saturday.

The Panthers (10-5) will now prepare for their match against Flintridge Prep (La Canada, CA). The Rebels go into the Prep challenge with a 5-12 record. In their last challenge, Flintridge Prep was overwhelmed by Chadwick (Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA), 6-2, in a league challenge.

With the defeat, South Pasadena falls to 7-13 on the season. The Tigers host La Canada (La Canada, CA) to encounter the Spartans in a Rio Hondo challenge on Tuesday, April 24. The Spartans come into the challenge with a record of 8-11. La Canada lost 11-0 in their recent league challenge against Monrovia (Monrovia, CA)

Game 15, Sat 4/21/12 at South Pasadena -- W 11-1 (10-5, 4-2 league) Poly (ranked 6th in CIF-SS Div 6 this week [4/16 poll]) handily defeated Div 4 South Pasadena behind a 16-hit attack from 10 different players and continued strong pitching. Logan Beerman had 3 hits, including a double, and an RBI; Zack Bern had 2 doubles and an RBI; Caleb Lee had 2 hits (one a double) and 2 RBI; Chris Ward had 2 hits and an RBI; Jonah Campbell had a triple and 3 RBI; David Orndorff had a single and 2 RBI; and Michael Bowman had a double and an RBI. Campbell also made a spectacular leaping snag of a line drive at first base to end the game. Ward (6-0) pitched 5 innings of 3-hit shutout ball, striking out 6 with one walk, and Davey Feess allowed just an unearned run over the final two innings. Poly has now won 6 in a row and 8 out of 9.
