Malyna Sanchez has been named player of the year. "Difficult choice, it is like a parent deciding which of your children you like most. As I think about Malyna Sanchez, I have to smile. She is such a good natured, intelligent young lady, she has a spirit and personality that bridges all players and coaches and opponents. As a freshmen trying out Four years ago, it was noticed by the coaching staff how scrappy she was. She was raw, strong and not afraid to throw herself at the ball, not only defensively but she was scrappy at the plate. No matter where the pitch was thrown or how down in the count she was she could put some pop on the ball. Four years later evolves a strong determined athlete and competitor. Malyna embodies all that high school and youth sports are trying to promote. She is an excellent student, team mate, competitor, citizen and athlete. Malyna is any coaches dream come true. She is an excellent softball player and yet is humble, never negative always positive. She is a team leader without trying to be. Go Ocho!"
