The Alameda Hornets softball team (Alameda, CA), was routed 8-0 in Friday's league test with the visiting Berkeley Yellowjackets (Berkeley, CA)
Coming up next, the Yellowjackets encounter the Hercules Titans (Hercules, CA) in a Alameda Contra Costa test, on Wednesday, May 19. Berkeley will attempt to improve on its 14-6 season record. The Titans come into the test with a 5-11 record after their 19-0 league loss to Pinole Valley (Pinole, CA).
The Hornets (11-10) will now prepare for their test against Pinole Valley (Pinole, CA). The Spartans come into the Alameda Contra Costa test with a 17-6 record. In their last test, Pinole Valley overcame Hercules (Hercules, CA), 19-0, in a league test.




The Alameda Hornets couldn't overcome a 5-run first inning in an 8 to 0 lost to Berkeley. The Hornets were held to only three hits by the Berkeley pitcher. All three hits were singles. Megan Averitt had two hits and Gia Morten had the other single. The Hornets did have three double plays in thrre consecutive innnings to prevent even more Berkeley runs. In the second inning with runners on 1st and 3rd and one out they executed a 6-4-3 double play, Mia Musso to Gia Morten to Alicia Fong. In the third inning with runners on second and third they got their second double play when pitcher Carrie Lee caught a line drive and threw to Anastasia Schiechl at to get the runner at third. In the fourth they got their double play when with one out and the bases loaded and one run already in Gia Morten grabbed a ground ball,threw it home to Jessica Ravetti to get the force at the plate. Jessica noticed the late start by runner at second and threw to Anastasia Schiechl at third for the third out.
