In Friday's league outing, the visiting Corning Cardinals softball team scored a close 8-1 win over the Anderson Cubs.

The Corning Cardinals (12-8-1 Overall and 4-6 NAL) picked up a win at Anderson against the Cubs in the finale of the Northern Atletic League contests. Jessica Flores picked up the win throwing 7 innings, striking out 10, walking none, but hitting two batters. The only run scored by the Cubs was unearned and Flores worked hard in battling a tight strike zone. The Cards scored 3 in the 3rd after a Tristen Huntly double, a Vada Sutfin walk, and back to back RBI singles by Anna Curry and Jessica Flores. In the 4th, Flores had a bases loaded double scoring 3 runs and Erica White also scored after tagging up from 3rd on a pop up to the 2nd baseman. Curry would scored one more run in the 6th off a Baillie Eller single. The Cards helped their playoff chances and inthe process knocked the Anderson Cubs out of the playoffs with the win. Seeding for Northern Section playoffs will take place Sat. May 9 and Corning can expect a 7 seed heading to either Wheatland, Live Oak, or Mt. Shast
