In the first round of the DIV 4 Northern Section Playoffs, the number 7 seed Corning Cardinals traveled to number 2 seed Wheatland to take on the Pirates. In a battle of pitchers, Jessica Flores of Corning squared off with KC Silva of Wheatland. Flores gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, had 7 strike outs and 2 walks. Silva gave up only 1 hit, no runs and had 6 strike outs, 3 walks and 3 hit batters. In the top of the first, Corning threatened to score some runs. With one out and runners on second and third, Baillie Eller hit a hard ground ball which was thrown to first for the force out and a cannon of a ball was them shot home to get Vada Sutfin at the plate for a double play ending the Cardinals at bat.
