The East Nicolaus Spartans the host Willows Honkers softball squad by a final score of 8-6 in Tuesday's league battle.

The Spartans (16-4) will now prepare for their battle against Live Oak (Live Oak, CA). The Lions go into the Sacramento Valley battle with a 6-7 record.

The Honkers now possess a 17-10 record. They play next when they host Esparto for a Sacramento Valley battle on Thursday, April 18. Willows will meet a Spartans squad coming off a 12-11 league loss to Pierce (Arbuckle, CA). The Spartans record now stands at 1-10.

East Nic took the early lead after a lead off triple, a honker error, a walk, and a double led to 3 runs. The Honkers would get 1 back in the B-2 when Macy Baker led off the inning with a single, moved to third on a sac bunt by Morgan Hughes and scored on a sac fly by Kassidy Millen. The Honkers fought back in the B-4 scoring 3 runs. Megan Hughes led off the inning with a double and scored when Brott reached on an error and got in a pickle to score Hughes. Baker and Morgan Hughes followed up with singles and both scored on a 2 out single by Delainy Ward to give the Honkers a 4-3 lead. East Nic would tie it up in the T-5 after 3 Honker errors and a single led to an East Nic run. In the T-6, East Nic had a 2-run homerun to take back the lead 6-4. The Honkers got one back in the sixth on a single by Brott and an RBI single by Millen to make it a 1-run game. In the T-7, East Nic scored 2 runs on 3 errors and a single. In the B-7th, the Honkers got 1 back on 3 singles but fell short 8-6
