The crowd at Saturday's non-league match between the Yucaipa Thunderbirds (Yucaipa, CA) and the host El Modena Vanguards (Orange, CA), saw Yucaipa's softball squad nip El Modena by a count of 5-2.

The Thunderbirds now sport a 11-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Citrus Valley for a Citrus Belt match on Wednesday, April 6. Yucaipa will face a Blackhawks squad coming off a 5-0 league win over Redlands East Valley (Redlands, CA). The Blackhawks record now stands at 7-10.

With the loss, El Modena falls to 5-15 on the campaign. The Vanguards host Yorba Linda (Yorba Linda, CA) to face the Mustangs in a North Hills match on Tuesday, April 5. The Mustangs enter the match with a record of 10-5. Yorba Linda won 7-0 in their recent non-league match against Santa Fe (Santa Fe Springs, CA)
