The Willows Honkers softball team scored 12 points and limited the visiting Esparto Spartans to 2 in the Honkers non-league triumph on Thursday.
With the triumph, Willows improves its record to 15-6 on the year. The Honkers travel to Durham (Durham, CA) to clash with the Trojans in a Sacramento Valley game on Tuesday, May 3. The Trojans come into the game with a record of 1-13. Durham lost 10-6 in their recent non-league game against Biggs (Biggs, CA)
In their next game, the Spartans clash with the East Nicolaus Spartans (Nicolaus, CA) in a Mid-Valley South game, on Friday, April 29. Esparto will attempt to improve on its 7-8 season record. The Spartans come into the game with a 11-9 record after their 7-0 non-league loss to Colusa (Colusa, CA).





The Esparto Spartans got on the board first in the top of the second after an error, triple and a single lead to 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, the Lady Honkers battled back with a 7 run inning. Alicia Gonter reached on an error and scored on a single by Megan Hughes. Maira Jaramillo singled to score Hughes. Brianna Brothers reached first on an error and scored on an RBI single by Natalie Massa. Nichole Thayer singled, Patricia Farrell reached on a walk and both runners scored a single by Gonter. In the fourth inning Hughes led off the inning with a triple and scored on an RBI by Brothers. Two errors, a hit batsman, a walk and a single by Farrel led to 3 more runs in the fifth. In the sixth the Honkers scored one run on a fielders choice by Samantha Brott to bring the scoring to 12 and ending the game due to the 10 run rule. The Honkers improve to 15-6 and play 3 big league games next week.
