The Willows Honkers softball team scored 4 runs and limited the visiting Gridley Bulldogs to 2 in the Honkers non-league triumph on Monday.
With the triumph, Willows improves its record to 15-5 on the year. The Honkers host Pierce (Arbuckle, CA) to clash with the Bears in a Sacramento Valley game on Tuesday, March 26. The Bears come into the game with a record of 4-8. Pierce lost 14-6 in their recent non-league game against Winters (Winters, CA)
In their next game, the Bulldogs clash with the Orland Trojans (Orland, CA) in a Butte View game, on Tuesday, March 26. Gridley will attempt to improve on its 6-12 season record. The Trojans come into the game with a 1-8 record after their 18-0 non-league loss to West Valley (Cottonwood, CA).






The Honkers got on board first with a lead off single by Rylee Smith who scored on Morgan Hughes RBI single. The Honkers would tack on some insurance runs with 3 in the third. Samantha Brott led off the inning with a single and Morgan Hughes got on board on a fielders choice, Macy Baker laid down the bunt moving runners to second and third for Kassidy Millen who doubled to score both runs. Millen scored on an RBI single by Alyssa Beatty to put the Honkers up 4-1. Gridley would tack on one more in the 7th on a triple and the game ended with a relay to the plate to while the Gridley runner tried to leg out the triple to a homerun. Brott got the win on the mound going a complete game, striking out 4, allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs.
