In Tuesday's non-league outing, the visiting Laton Mustangs softball team scored a nice 16-6 win over the Strathmore Spartans.

Coming up next, the Mustangs encounter the Farmersville Aztecs (Farmersville, CA) in a East Sierra contest, on Friday, May 8. Laton will attempt to move on its 13-5 season record. The Aztecs come into the contest with a 5-12 record after their 12-2 league loss to McFarland (McFarland, CA).

In their next game, the Spartans play the Lindsay Cardinals (Lindsay, CA) in a East Sequoia contest, on Thursday, May 7. Strathmore will attempt to move on its 2-16 season record. The Cardinals come into the contest with a 18-7 record after their 5-3 league win over Corcoran (Corcoran, CA).

The Laton Mustangs traveled to Strathmore beating the Spartans 16-6 for a non-league game. Monica Castaneda struck out 9 batters as the Mustangs continued to come up with key hits to give the Mustangs their 6th straight win. Dawn Alves lead the Mustangs going 3-5 with two doubles and 4 RBI’s. Brianna Adams went 2-5 with 2 RBI’s, 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. Ashtin Alves came up with 2 RBI’s of her own. The Mustangs are now 13-5 overall and perfect in league with a 5-0 record. Laton travels to Farmersville for a key match-up game in East Sierra League on Friday. Next week, Laton takes on Orange Cove and Kings Christian at home to complete ESL action. Laton has not had a championship team since 1994. Freshman Dawn Alves is the daughter of Dodie Alves, who played on that Championship Team her senior year. With an enrollment of 200 students, Laton plays with 10 players. The Mustangs are working to bring a league championship home and possibly a run at a Division
