In Tuesday's non-league contest, the Montclair Cavaliers (Montclair, CA) softball team the visiting Simi Valley Pioneers (Simi Valley, CA), by a margin of 6-4.

With the triumph, Montclair moves its record to 18-9 on the year. The Cavaliers travel to Chino Hills (Chino Hills, CA) to play the Huskies in a non-league contest on Thursday, May 16. The Huskies come into the contest with a record of 23-7. Chino Hills won 9-6 in their recent league contest against South Hills (West Covina, CA)

Simi Valley started strong with a 3 run homerun by Dani Liermann in the first inning. Montclair came back in the bottom of the first with a 2 run shot by sophomore Brittany Violette. Simi Valley managed to get another run in the top of the 3rd but in the bottom of the inning 2 back to back base hits to start the inning for Montclair and an intentional walk to Brittany Violette with 2 out brought up freshman Mia Torres to the plate. With a 2-1 count, Torres got a good pitch and took it over the left field fence for a grandslam to put the Lady Cavs up for good. Brittany Violette completed the game and the Lady Cavs didnt allow any more runs to cross the plate to preserve a 6-4 win over the Pioneers in this Division 2 wildcard game. Montclair will face Chino Hills on Thursday in a first round game.
