Brighton--BHS senior attacker Tete Juarez scored just 38 seconds into the match but Centaurus roared back with four unanswered goals in route to a 4-1 Bulldogs' loss Saturday at Bulldogs Stadium. Centaurus, tied for fifth in the 4A Northern Soccer Conference, outshot Brighton 31-5. The Bulldogs struggled with Centaurus' Flat Four defensive set that resulted in offside traps nullifying nine scoring opportunies. Stiff keeper play by senior Brett Martin and solid defense by center backs Eric Donlucas and Victor Carrillo thwarted seven shots in the first 30 minutes. Martin had five diving saves before two goals slipped in with 10:14 and 6:29. Centaurus third goal came after a corner kick and seemingly was a handball before finding the net at 31:31. Their final goal was a Penalty Kick. Brighton faces EMAC leader Adams City Monday night at Dick's Sportings Goods Park. Brighton is 3-5 and 2-3 in league play. Adams City is 7-1 and undefeated in the EMAC. It is Brighton homecoming week.
