Berthoud Spartans (Berthoud, CO) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Severance Silver Knights (Severance, CO), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 7-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Riverdale Ridge for a 4A Longs Peak challenge on Thursday, September 9. Berthoud will battle a Ravens squad coming off a 10-6 non-league loss to Horizon (Thornton, CO). The Ravens record now stands at 8-1.

With the loss, Severance falls to 4-5 on the campaign. The Silver knights travel to Niwot (Niwot, CO) to battle the Cougars in a 4A Longs Peak challenge on Wednesday, September 8. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 4-5. Niwot won 11-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Mountain View (Loveland, CO)
