Gunnison Cowboys (Gunnison, CO) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Lutheran Lights (Denver, CO), 7-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Cowboys now own a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they host Eagle Valley for a non-league challenge on Thursday, September 3. Gunnison will battle a Devils squad coming off a 16-5 non-league loss to Montezuma-Cortez (Cortez, CO). The Devils record now stands at 0-2.

With the loss, Lutheran falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Lights travel to Faith Christian (Arvada, CO) to battle the Eagles in a 3A District 4 challenge on Thursday, September 3. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 1-0. Faith Christian won 15-0 in their recent league challenge against St. Mary's Academy (Englewood, CO)
