Somers Spartans (Somers, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Coventry Patriots (Coventry, CT), 6-3 in a league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 10-2 record. They take the field next when they host East Granby for a North Central Connecticut challenge on Monday, May 10. Somers will face a Crusaders squad coming off a 11-10 league win over Bolton (Bolton, CT). The Crusaders record now stands at 5-4.

With the loss, Coventry falls to 8-4 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy (Hartford, CT) to face the Phoenix in a North Central Connecticut challenge on Monday, May 10. The Phoenix enter the challenge with a record of 0-9. Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy lost 19-0 in their recent league challenge against Canton (Canton, CT)
