In Wednesday's league outing, the host Weston Trojans softball team scored a nice 20-1 win over the Stratford Red Devils.

Coming up next, the Trojans battle the Newtown Nighthawks (Newtown, CT) in a Southwest - Patriot outing, on Thursday, April 28. Weston will attempt to advance on its 6-5 season record.

With the loss, Stratford falls to 0-5 on the campaign. The Red devils travel to Notre Dame Catholic (Fairfield, CT) to face the Lancers in a Southwest - Patriot match on Saturday, April 30. The Lancers enter the match with a record of 12-1. Notre Dame Catholic lost 2-1 in their recent league match against Brookfield (Brookfield, CT)

Weston jumped out to an early lead on Stratford and captured a 20-1 victory on Wednesday. A passed ball, a wild pitch, an RBI single by Annalise Icatar, an RBI single by Corey Camerato, an RBI single by Eliza Maestri, an error, a walk by Emily Abrams, a walk by Jordan Klebenow, a two-run single by Icatar, and an RBI single by Samantha Hurwitz during the first inning supplied the early offense for Weston. Icatar racked up four RBIs on three hits for Weston.

Stratford couldn't get anything going as long as Hurwitz was on the rubber. Sam held Stratford hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out 9. Icatar recorded the win for Weston. She allowed one run over two innings. Icatar struck out one, walked three and gave up one hit.

Weston easily handled Stratford pitching as seven hitters combined for 11 hits, 12 RBIs and 16 runs scored. Weston added two more runs in the bottom of the third. Lucy Chestler singled bringing home Icatar to start the inning.
