In Wednesday's non-league game, the host Killian Cougars baseball team scored a tight 4-3 victory over the Hialeah Thoroughbreds.

The Thoroughbreds (19-3) will now prepare for their game against Goleman (Miami, FL). The Gators go into the non-league game with a 12-8 record. In their last game, Goleman was edged by Coral Reef (Miami, FL), 11-3, in a non-league game.

Mandy Alvarez knocked in the game winning run on Senior Day with a bases loaded single in the bottom of the 7th. Gil Polanco led off the inning with his 2nd hit of the game, a single to left. Gil advanced to 3rd when Hialeah's catcher threw Daniel Andrade's sac bunt into Right Field. Alex Fernandez was then walked intentionally, setting up Mandy's game winner. Senior Jonathan Coven pitched 4 and 2/3 innings and allowed only 2 first inning runs, keeping the Cougars in it. Senior Ryan Hardy pitched 1 and 2/3 innings and allowed only 1 unearned run. Alex Porrua picked up the win by getting 3 outs in the 7th with the help of a spectacular double play turned by Joey Gonzalez at 3rd base. Erik Molina hit a Homerun in the 2nd innings that tied the score at 2 and Nick Mira had an RBI ground out in the first. Killian improves to 15-8-1 overall.
