Rashard Cabane has been named player of the year. "Rashard has been voted our unanimous team MVP. Rashard was team captain and one of the most exciting and hardest-working players on the Newton Rams varsity basketball team this season. Rashard was the most productive Ram, leading the team is scoring, rebounding, and charges taken. Showing he has the heart of a champion, Rashard took a school record 67 charges in 26 games this season. Rashard was voted 1st Team All-Region 2-AAAAAA as well. Off the court Rashard has maintained close to a 3.0 GPA, while coming close to straight As this year. He has also served as a NHS Rambassador this year, a position of leadership amongst the student body, nominated by teachers and administrators. Rashard has begun making college visits and should be signing a college basketball scholarship soon. Congratulations Rashard on a great season of Newton Rams basketball. You left a great example for future Rams of the heart and sacrifice it takes to succeed on and off the court. You will be missed!"
