January 2, 2024: Rock Island, IL 61201 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Rock Island Rocks (Rock Island, IL) and the visiting Peoria Lions (Peoria, IL), saw Rock Island's basketball squad hold off Peoria by a tally of 38-34.
With the victory, Rock Island improves its record to 12-4 on the campaign. The Rocks travel to East Moline United (East Moline, IL) to play the Panthers in a Western Big 6 challenge on Friday, January 5. The Panthers come into the challenge with a record of 10-3. East Moline United won 49-46 in their recent non-league challenge against Belvidere North (Belvidere, IL)
Next up, the Lions play the Peoria Notre Dame Irish (Peoria, IL) in a Big Twelve challenge, on Friday, January 5. Peoria will attempt to improve on its 7-8 season record. The Irish come into the challenge with a 6-7 record after their 59-35 non-league loss to Moline (Moline, IL).
