North Carolina High School Basketball - New Hanover bests Laney

January 3, 2025: Wilmington, NC 28401

The New Hanover Wildcats (Wilmington, NC) basketball toppled the visiting Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC), 63-49 in Friday's league bout.

The Wildcats now possess a 9-2 record. They play next when they travel to North Brunswick for a 3A/4A Mideastern bout on Tuesday, January 7. New Hanover will play a Scorpions team coming off a 61-47 league loss to West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC). The Scorpions record now stands at 4-7.

With the loss, Laney falls to 7-4 on the campaign. The Buccaneers host South Brunswick (Southport, NC) to play the Cougars in a 3A/4A Mideastern bout on Tuesday, January 7. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 5-7. South Brunswick lost 60-20 in their recent league bout against Topsail (Hampstead, NC)
