Georgia High School Basketball - Sumter County holds off Spencer

January 3, 2025: Columbus, GA 31903

The Sumter County Panthers basketball team scored 52 points and limited the host Spencer Greenwave to 51 in the Panthers league triumph on Friday.

The Panthers now possess a 5-6 record. They play next when they host Crisp County for a non-league game on Tuesday, January 7. Sumter County will confront a Cougars team coming off a 65-40 non-league win over Dooly County (Vienna, GA). The Cougars record now stands at 11-3.

With the loss, Spencer falls to 8-3 on the campaign. The Greenwave host Shaw (Columbus, GA) to confront the Raiders in a AA Region 1 game on Tuesday, January 7. The Raiders go into the game with a record of 4-8. Shaw won 49-46 in their recent non-league game against Russell County (Seale, AL)
