North Carolina High School Basketball - North Buncombe tops Mitchell

January 4, 2023: Bakersville, NC 28705

North Buncombe Black Hawks (Weaverville, NC) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC), 74-55 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, North Buncombe upgrades its record to 8-6 on the campaign. The Black Hawks travel to Enka (Enka, NC) to play the Jets in a 3A/4A Conference 53 bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Jets come into the bout with a record of 13-2. Enka won 76-56 in their recent league bout against McDowell (Marion, NC)

Next up, the Mountaineers play the Mountain Heritage Cougars (Burnsville, NC) in a 1A/2A Conference 42 bout, on Friday, January 6. Mitchell will attempt to upgrade on its 4-8 season record. The Cougars come into the bout with a 12-1 record after their 67-61 league win over Avery County (Newland, NC).
