The crowd at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Asheville Cougars (Asheville, NC) and the host Crest Chargers (Shelby, NC), observed Asheville's basketball team knock off Crest by a score of 51-35.

The Cougars (8-4) will now prepare for their challenge against A.C. Reynolds (Asheville, NC). The Rockets come into the 3A/4A Mountain challenge with a 5-5 record. In their last challenge, A.C. Reynolds prevailed over Enka (Enka, NC), 65-44, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Chargers encounter the Huss Huskies (Gastonia, NC) in a 3A Big South challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Crest will attempt to improve on its 3-4 season record. The Huskies come into the challenge with a 6-4 record after their 69-47 non-league loss to Stuart W. Cramer (Belmont, NC).
