Chapel Hill Red Devils (Mount Pleasant, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Mount Vernon Tigers (Mount Vernon, TX), 36-27 in a league bout.

With the win, Chapel Hill upgrades its record to 8-4 on the season. The Red Devils host Winnsboro (Winnsboro, TX) to play the Raiders in a 3A Region II District 13 bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Raiders go into the bout with a record of 18-8. Winnsboro won 68-22 in their recent league bout against Mineola (Mineola, TX)

Next up, the Tigers play the Quitman Bulldogs (Quitman, TX) in a 3A Region II District 13 bout, on Tuesday, January 10. Mount Vernon will attempt to upgrade on its 10-7 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 11-10 record after their 2-0 league win over Winona (Winona, TX).
