The Purvis Tornadoes basketball team scored 49 points and held the host Laurel Christian Lions to 47 in the Tornadoes non-league triumph on Thursday.
The Tornadoes now sport a 3-10 record. They put it on the line next when they host Poplarville for a 4A Region 7 contest on Friday, January 8. Purvis will battle a Hornets team coming off a 69-37 league loss to Stone (Wiggins, MS). The Hornets record now stands at 2-4.
The Lions (5-11) will now prepare for their contest against Lamar Christian (Purvis, MS). The Lions enter the MAIS 3A District 4 contest with a 7-7 record. In their last contest, Lamar Christian nudged Bowling Green (Franklinton, LA), 51-43, in a league contest.
