Rio Vista Eagles (Rio Vista, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Meridian Yellowjackets (Meridian, TX), 51-37 in a league bout.

With the win, Rio Vista upgrades its record to 14-8 on the season. The Eagles travel to Frost (Frost, TX) to clash with the Polar Bears in a 2A Region II District 12 bout on Friday, January 14. The Polar Bears go into the bout with a record of 2-14.

Next up, the Yellowjackets clash with the Frost Polar Bears (Frost, TX) in a 2A Region II District 12 bout, on Tuesday, January 11. Meridian will attempt to upgrade on its 8-16 season record. The Polar Bears go into the bout with a 2-14 record after their 82-17 league loss to Italy (Italy, TX).
