The Elyria Pioneers (Elyria, OH) basketball edged the visiting Steele Comets (Amherst, OH), 59-56 in Thursday's league bout.

The Pioneers now possess a 8-3 record. They play next when they travel to Avon for a Southwestern bout on Saturday, January 11. Elyria will play a Eagles team coming off a 89-88 league loss to Berea-Midpark (Berea, OH). The Eagles record now stands at 4-3.
