Georgia High School Basketball - Wayne County tops Islands

January 13, 2023: Savannah, GA 31410

Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Wayne County Yellow Jackets (Jesup, GA) and the host Islands Sharks (Savannah, GA), saw Wayne County's basketball squad knock off Islands by a tally of 60-45.

With the victory, Wayne County improves its record to 12-4 on the campaign. The Yellow Jackets host Liberty County (Hinesville, GA) to play the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Saturday, January 14. The Panthers come into the challenge with a record of 2-9. Liberty County lost 63-33 in their recent league challenge against Johnson (Savannah, GA)

Next up, the Sharks play the New Hampstead Phoenix (Savannah, GA) in a AAAA Region 3 challenge, on Tuesday, January 17. Islands will attempt to advance on its 3-14 season record. The Phoenix go into the test with a 5-8 record after their 74-51 league loss to Burke County (Waynesboro, GA).
