The South Williamsport Mountaineers (South Williamsport, PA) basketball nipped the visiting Northwest Area Rangers (Shickshinny, PA), 59-58 in Saturday's league test.

The Mountaineers (6-6) will now prepare for their test against Sullivan County (Laporte, PA). The Griffins go into the Midd-Penn test with a 8-5 record. In their last test, Sullivan County got by Bucktail (Farwell, PA), 73-26, in a league test.

The Rangers now own a 12-2 record. They play next when they host Neumann Regional Academy for a Midd-Penn test on Tuesday, January 17. Northwest Area will encounter a Golden Knights squad coming off a 91-64 league win over Millville (Millville, PA). The Golden Knights record now stands at 8-4.
