Jay Royals (Jay, FL) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Freeport Bulldogs (Freeport, FL), 49-31 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Jay upgrades its record to 7-10 on the season. The Royals host Baker (Baker, FL) to play the Gators in a 1A District 3 bout on Friday, January 17. The Gators go into the bout with a record of 3-12. Baker lost 72-55 in their recent non-league bout against Escambia Charter (Gonzalez, FL)

Next up, the Bulldogs play the Chipley Tigers (Chipley, FL) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 21. Freeport will attempt to upgrade on its 7-14 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 12-2 record after their 71-61 non-league loss to Charlotte (Punta Gorda, FL).
