In Wednesday's league match, the host George West Longhorns basketball team scored a decisive 47-26 triumph over the Mathis Pirates.

In their next game, the Longhorns meet the Odem Owls (Odem, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 29 match, on Friday, January 19. George West will attempt to move on its 17-10 season record. The Owls enter the match with a 2-26 record after their 51-7 league loss to Goliad (Goliad, TX).
