In Friday's league contest, the host Midland Trail Patriots basketball team scored a good 63-43 triumph over the Sherman Tide.

The Patriots (6-3) will now prepare for their contest against Greenbrier West (Charmco, WV). The Cavaliers go into the Coalfield A contest with a 2-3 record. In their last contest, Greenbrier West was topped by Summers County (Hinton, WV), 78-72, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Tide confront the St. Joseph Central Irish (Huntington, WV) in a Freelance contest, on Saturday, February 1. Sherman will attempt to better on its 6-4 season record.
