The Avalon Lancers nipped the visiting Samueli Academy Firewolves basketball squad by a final score of 40-39 in Friday's non-league outing.

Next, the Lancers face the El Modena Vanguards (Orange, CA) in a non-league outing, on Saturday, January 18. Avalon will attempt to upgrade on its 4-9 season record. The Vanguards enter the battle with a 17-4 record after their 71-17 non-league win over Saddleback (Santa Ana, CA).

The Firewolves now own a 5-12 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Capistrano Valley Christian for a Academy battle on Tuesday, January 21.
