The Mitchell Mustangs (New Port Richey, FL) basketball nipped the host Springstead Eagles (Spring Hill, FL), 55-48 in Friday's league test.

The Mustangs (15-4) will now prepare for their test against Academy at the Lakes (Land O' Lakes, FL). The Wildcats go into the non-league test with a 5-12 record. In their last test, Academy at the Lakes got by Carrollwood Day (Tampa, FL), 49-38, in a league test.

The Eagles now own a 10-7 record. They play next when they travel to Fivay for a non-league test on Monday, January 23. Springstead will encounter a Falcons squad coming off a 68-60 league loss to Gulf (New Port Richey, FL). The Falcons record now stands at 3-16.
