In Wednesday's league contest, the visiting George School Cougars basketball team scored a close 78-72 triumph over the Academy of the New Church Lions.

The Cougars (14-4) will now prepare for their contest against Westtown (West Chester, PA). The go into the Friends Schools contest with a 10-4 record. In their last contest, Westtown was tipped by St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD), 66-52, in a non-league contest.

The Lions now own a 11-9 record. They put it on the line next when they host Barrack Hebrew Academy for a Friends Schools battle on Thursday, January 23. Academy of the New Church will meet a Cougars squad coming off a 50-29 non-league win over Kimberton Waldorf (Kimberton, PA). The Cougars record now stands at 5-6.
