In Thursday's league contest, the host Springfield Tigers basketball team scored a close 42-35 win over the McDonald Blue Devils.

The Tigers (9-7) will now prepare for their contest against Western Reserve (Berlin Center, OH). The Blue Devils come into the Mahoning Valley - Scarlet contest with a 10-4 record. In their last contest, Western Reserve edged Jackson-Milton (North Jackson, OH), 60-34, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Blue Devils battle the McKinley Trojans (Sebring, OH) in a Mahoning Valley - Scarlet contest, on Tuesday, January 28.
