The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Asheboro Blue Comets (Asheboro, NC) and the visiting Montgomery Central Timberwolves (Troy, NC), observed Asheboro's basketball team overwhelm Montgomery Central by a score of 72-36.

The Blue Comets (10-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Oak Grove (Winston-Salem, NC). The Grizzlies come into the 3A Mid-Piedmont challenge with a 11-3 record. In their last challenge, Oak Grove trounced Central Davidson (Lexington, NC), 62-53, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Timberwolves encounter the North Davidson Black Knights (Lexington, NC) in a 3A Mid-Piedmont challenge, on Tuesday, January 28. Montgomery Central will attempt to improve on its 0-15 season record. The Black Knights come into the challenge with a 8-9 record after their 74-62 league loss to Ledford (Thomasville, NC).
