In Wednesday's league contest, the host Shelby Golden Lions basketball team scored a good 74-58 triumph over the Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons.

The Golden Lions (11-7) will now prepare for their contest against Highland Tech (Gastonia, NC). The Rams go into the 1A/2A Southern Piedmont contest with a 9-9 record. In their last contest, Highland Tech was toppled by Burns (Lawndale, NC), 82-58, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Gryphons confront the East Gaston Warriors (Mt. Holly, NC) in a 1A/2A Southern Piedmont contest, on Friday, January 31. Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy will attempt to better on its 13-5 season record. The Warriors go into the contest with a 3-15 record after their 65-63 league win over Cherryville (Cherryville, NC).
