The Polk County Wildcats basketball team scored 71 points and held the host Copper Basin Cougars to 48 in the Wildcats non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Wildcats now sport a 7-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host McMinn Central for a 2A District 3 contest on Friday, February 2. Polk County will meet a Chargers team coming off a 71-49 league win over Sweetwater (Sweetwater, TN). The Chargers record now stands at 12-9.

The Cougars (2-14) will now prepare for their contest against Lookout Valley (Chattanooga, TN). The Yellowjackets enter the 1A District 5 contest with a 1-17 record. In their last contest, Lookout Valley was routed by South Pittsburg (South Pittsburg, TN), 60-38, in a non-league contest.
