North Carolina High School Basketball - Statesville tops Foard
February 2, 2024: Newton, NC 28658 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Statesville Greyhounds (Statesville, NC) and the host Foard Tigers (Newton, NC), saw Statesville's basketball squad knock off Foard by a tally of 73-61.
With the victory, Statesville improves its record to 9-10 on the campaign. The Greyhounds travel to West Iredell (Statesville, NC) to play the Warriors in a 3A Western Foothills challenge on Tuesday, February 6. The Warriors come into the challenge with a record of 2-17. West Iredell lost 103-65 in their recent league challenge against East Lincoln (Denver, NC)
Next up, the Tigers play the East Lincoln Mustangs (Denver, NC) in a 3A Western Foothills challenge, on Tuesday, February 6. Foard will attempt to improve on its 5-15 season record. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a 11-9 record after their 103-65 league win over West Iredell (Statesville, NC).

The Greyhounds played great team basketball against Foard, causing 17 turnovers, but 3 players reached double digits in points- Kevin Bryant (15), also with 6 rebounds, Jay'Veon Lackey (14), also with 4 assists, and Mekiaun Davis (12), also with 4 assists. In addition to these amazing performances, Tatum tucker had 9 points and 16 rebounds.
